LOLspeak is something new. Change is inevitable. Either keep up with the newer generations or "don't get it," I suppose.

LOLspeak adds character to these photographs. The animals in the photographs are very child-like. The non-traditional writing helps add a very child-like (read: FUN) element to the site. Make no mistake, however- there is a notable amount of wit behind the captions as well. Some people won’t get that either.

Leetspeak (I will not dignify it with the numbers I use for math) had its day. Hackers used it to make messages cryptic. Now, just as kids use forums and chat lines for dating (tell that to a hacker a decade or two back), kids use Leetspeak as well. Some think it's cool. That's fine, kids have cliques. Clothes, music, speak. They’ll all call the other groups “losers” at one point or another as well. Silly kids.

As for creativity is concerned, I see no difference in English itself, Leetspeak, and LOLspeak. Languages follow certain rules. Boundaries are occasionally crossed. The creativity and thinking in writing is more in what you choose to write than what “speak,” language, or slang that you use to write it in.

Can anyone imagine Leetspeak being used in these photographs instead of LOLspeak? The captions are meant to be humorous. Leetspeak is meant to be cryptic. Sure, the captions could all be in normal English but where's the fun in that? What's new in that?

As many others have said: If you don't like the theme, don't visit.

Go ahead and call me and everyone else here a "lamer" all day if you'd like. You may not be spelling like a second grader but you sure are acting like one.
