(I will write plainly for this :-D) PART 1 I am a pacifist who tries (desperately, sometimes) to see the goodness in all people, no matter their religion, culture or race. If that makes me too naive and trusting, so be it. (It makes me happy, it makes the people around me happy, and it doesn't add wrinkles.) Here, however, what I see is that Islam is being used as a means to extort more money from people, and this is what makes it terribly sad. The Abu Sayyaf group that continues to kidnap-for-ransom innocents in a province down south is a perfect example. My two colleagues in social development (they work with Christian Community Foundation) are their latest victims. Two ladies, kidnapped last September, still captive pending payment of a multi-million-peso ransom... IF their ransom is paid, they will be released, simple as that. If NOT, they will be killed. The Islam separatists here are after money and an autonomous state. Religion doesn't even seem to enter into the picture.
